Scrabble Clubs
The National Scrabble Association lists more than three hundred Scrabble clubs in the United States and Canada. These are divided into regions, with each state listing its own clubs. If you are interested in participating in your area's Scrabble club, you can get the contact information for your region's Director by contacting the National Scrabble Association at 403 Front Street, Box 700, Greenport, New York, 11944. If there is no Scrabble club in your area, you can apply to become a Director and start your own; the National Scrabble Association will provide the materials you will need if you wish to do this. The Association also holds annual tournaments, known as the National Scrabble Championships.
Depending on where you live, there are currently fifty-seven Scrabble Meet-Up Clubs in various parts of the United States, as well as many others which are in the process of forming. All you need to do to participate in a Scrabble Meet-Up is to show up with your Scrabble board and join in the fun!
In keeping with the tradition of good clean fun, continued learning, and socializing amongst those with a similar interest, Scrabble clubs are a part of campus life for many colleges and universities. While the clubs can be independent, many elect to be recognized by the National Scrabble Association. If the club meets the requirements, it can then be listed in the National Scrabble Association's directory. In order to be eligible, the college club's director must be a member in good standing of the Association.
For schools that would like to begin their own Scrabble clubs, the Hasbro company offers all of the information needed to form a club. They will supply interested teachers with a Scrabble kit and a newsletter, and the school will have the opportunity to be listed in Hasbro's School Scrabble Club roster. They will also give teachers fund-raising ideas. All schools in the United States and Canada are welcome to join and participate. Hasbro also sponsors school tournaments and annual championships.
The Internet Scrabble Club is one of the online versions. In order to play live online Scrabble, all you need to do is register.
