Does Anyone Dislike Scrabble?A person who is notably poor with spelling will likely fall into this category. While those who are bothered by the condition called Dyslexia may find a simple game of Scrabble to be utterly unbearable, those who just have trouble with spelling in general may dislike Scrabble just as much. Some may be inclined to try harder, and to learn, but many others will be too embarrassed about their lack of these basic skills to want to play the game at all. Although most people do like Scrabble, those who do not should not be pushed into playing it. People who have medical conditions involving the hands may also dislike playing this board game. Arthritis and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can make handling the pieces on the board and arranging them correctly a very difficult and possibly painful process. Obviously, a game which causes this type of distress will not be enjoyable for the player. Dealing with unnecessary physical pain solely for the purpose of playing a game is generally not worth it. In some instances, the handling of such small tiles can make the discomfort of arthritis even worse. Some people are naturally much more timid or shy than others. These types of people will usually dislike any type of games that are competitive in nature. While some may have an interest in playing Scrabble in the forms that do not require in-person socializing, such as the online versions of Scrabble, many prefer to dismiss competitive games altogether. It is important to consider a person's individual personality, because pushing some people into competitive activities will lead to even further timidity. Some people are simply uncomfortable about interacting with others; when this is the case, their feelings should be respected. Some potential Scrabble players have specific settings that they prefer over others. Some may be at ease playing the game only with family, and not in a Scrabble club; others may like the game itself but have a distaste for the larger-scale tournaments and championships. As each person has his or her own unique reasons for their preferences, each should be allowed to enjoy Scrabble in the manner that is best suited to them. There are some people who like to play Scrabble to win; for others, playing the game itself is the high point. But the fact is, even though Scrabble is such a popular game not only in the United States but all around the globe, people do exist who simply do not like it. Comments |
