An Idea For Scrabble-Playing

There are so many avenues by which to approach the game of Scrabble that it seems unlikely anyone can come up with anything new or different. There is, however, an idea which can make Scrabble into something much more than a game, and have a much longer-term effect than prize winnings or championship trophies.

As the concept of Time Capsules grows in its widespread appeal, incorporating the family's favorite board game can be a delightful addition. All it takes is a little careful planning, and a family that is probably more than willing to cooperate and participate in making a time capsule. It will not be difficult at all, and the results will be well worth the effort.

To do this, you can either select an event for which the entire family will be present, such as a holiday; or you can create an event by making Scrabble the main focus. The point is to get everyone together in the same place at the same time. Everyone from the youngest children to the elderly relatives will enjoy this. As the various age groups and generations will likely have a variety of skills from however long they have been playing Scrabble, sharing this knowledge will be a nice way for all family members to bond. The older people will have much to contribute to the youngsters; and the youngsters in turn will have a sense of newness and desire for learning to share with their elders. Everyone can have the chance to show off what they know and what they've learned.

With a good supply of snacks and beverages on hand, a day or an evening of Scrabble playing can be recorded on film to put into your time capsule. Candid shots of each person enjoying this game is something which will make for good memories when opening the time capsule and reflecting, years or decades from now. It is not necessary for a time capsule to be uninteresting or dry; and filling it with dozens of photographs of your family's "Scrabble Day" will ensure that the time capsule will have a joyous reception when it is eventually opened.

You can select a date in advance for the grand opening of your capsule-- however far into the future you think would be appropriate. But before the members of the younger generation grow up and move away, before the elderly family members pass, consider making a time capsule of everyone together enjoying one of their favorite activities.

A time capsule is a good idea because it is something your family will have in the future. Scrabble is a good point of focus for it because, as family activities go, it has been a favorite amongst American families for more than half a century. Scrabble is a game which many Americans have grown up with. It has been a standard part of life for so long that it is only natural that the words 'Scrabble' and 'family' are almost synonymous. Scrabble is an American tradition!
